Description
The ATLAS 20004781 40' Postwar Boxcar represents the Santa Fe - ATSF #33830 in HO scale. After World War II, North American railroads, driven by a business boom and the need to replace old equipment, built many 40' box cars following AAR standard designs starting in 1945. These prototypes had various roof styles, ends, and doors, and our product features many common details.
Key features include:
- State - of - the - art, highly detailed tooling.
- Many separately applied details like ladders and grab irons.
- Four different end styles: 4/4, Early and Late Improved Dreadnaught or “Dartnot”.
- Two different roof options: straight or diagonal panel.
- Superior or Youngstown doors.
- Seven or eight - rung ladders.
- A fully detailed underframe.
- Free - rolling trucks with blackened metal wheelsets.
- Prototypical paint schemes based on careful research.
The AccuMate® couplers are made under license from AccuRail, Inc.

Using this HO scale boxcar is easy. Just place it on your model train track, and it will roll smoothly with the free - rolling trucks. You can connect it to other cars using the AccuMate® couplers. When handling, be gentle to avoid damaging the separately applied details like ladders and grab irons.
For maintenance, keep it in a dry and dust - free place. If it gets dirty, you can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe it clean. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they may damage the paint. Also, check the wheels and couplers regularly to ensure they are working properly.
