Description
Atlas 10004241 EMD GP40 - 2 CSX #6221 in HO Scale comes with DCC & Sound. It has front and rear ditch lights, and colors of yellow, blue, and gray. Note that the picture might show a different road number. The GP40 - 2 is EMD's successor to the successful GP40. It has internal upgrades like better modular Dash 2 electrical parts and some external differences from the late - production GP40. It features a 16 - cylinder EMD 645 - series 3,000 - horsepower diesel engine. Phase 2 units have an 88” low nose, corrugated radiator grilles, and notched step wells. The model has many great features such as golden - white LEDs, a realistic die - cast underframe, and a five - pole skewed armature motor with dual flywheels for smooth performance at all speeds. It also has directional lighting, AccuMate® knuckle couplers, and a detailed cab interior with crew. There are additional features like etched metal radiator and dynamic brake fans and a 3,600 - gallon fuel tank. Undecorated units come with specific parts. It supports all DCC - programming modes and has great sound functionality with over 20 sound effects.
Using this Atlas EMD GP40 - 2 CSX #6221 model is easy. For DCC operation, it supports all programming modes. Just set up your DCC system and use the flexible mapping of function keys from F0 to F28. On an analog (DC) layout, you can use it too, but remember the Atlas Quantum Engineer won't work with the LokSound Select decoder on DC. Also, on a DC - powered layout, don't try to couple it with a locomotive that doesn't have both DCC and sound. When it comes to sound, you can choose from over 20 sound effects, 16 horns, 2 bells, and 2 synchronized brake squeals. For maintenance, keep it clean. Wipe off dust regularly from the body, underframe, and details like the handrails. If you have undecorated units, handle the separate parts carefully during assembly. Store it in a dry place to prevent any damage to the delicate parts like the LEDs and the motor.
