Description
This HO scale Atlas Master 20007023 50-foot plug door boxcar represents CGW Chicago Great Western #341, painted in a vibrant boxcar red and black color scheme. Note that the picture might show a different road number. Starting in the mid-1950s, the AAR design was used to create these plug door, insulated boxcars for carrying food and other perishables where temperature control was needed without refrigeration. They feature 8/8 panel riveted sides, an eight-foot door opening, straight side sills, and overhanging diagonal panel roofs. These cars were built for roads across the nation with colorful paint jobs. The model comes with highly detailed painting and printing, late improved Dreadnaught ends, an overhanging diagonal panel roof with or without a roofwalk as per the prototype, a straight-side sill body design, 8/8 panel riveted sides, a detailed underframe, separately-applied ladders, grab irons and latch bars, blackened metal wheels, and AccuMate® couplers.
Using this boxcar model is easy. Just place it on your HO scale train track and connect it to other cars using the AccuMate® couplers. When handling the model, be gentle to avoid damaging the separately - applied ladders, grab irons, and latch bars. Keep it away from sharp objects that could scratch the paint. For maintenance, use a soft, dry cloth to dust it regularly. If there are stubborn stains, you can use a slightly damp cloth, but make sure to dry it thoroughly to prevent rust on the metal parts like the wheels. Store it in a cool, dry place when not in use to maintain its condition.
