Description
This HO scale Atlas 20005857 50-foot postwar boxcar represents the Reading Railroad (RDG) with the road number 115349. It features green, yellow, and XMz markings. Note that the picture might show a different road number. After World War II, railroads bought lots of 50-foot AAR boxcars with a standard design that became popular in the late 1940s. This design, based on the 1937 AAR one, was updated after the war with an improved dreadnaught end and diagonal panel roofs. These boxcars were common on American railroads until the 1970s and 1980s. The boxcar has separately applied ladders and grab irons, three side sill styles (straight, tabbed, and fishbelly), 8-foot and 9-foot Superior or Youngstown doors, a fully detailed underframe, free-rolling trucks with metal wheelsets, and accurate printing with prototypical paint schemes.

Using your HO scale Atlas boxcar is easy. Just place it on your model railroad track and let it roll along with your other trains. When handling the boxcar, be gentle to avoid damaging the separately applied ladders and grab irons. Keep it away from rough surfaces and sharp objects. For maintenance, use a soft, dry cloth to gently clean the boxcar's body and wheels. If there's dust in hard - to - reach areas, you can use a small, soft - bristled brush. Store the boxcar in a cool, dry place to prevent paint damage and warping. Make sure the track is clean to ensure the free - rolling trucks with metal wheelsets work smoothly.
