Description
The Atlas 20006528 NSC Newsprint Box Car in HO Scale represents Central Vermont #402139. It's painted in boxcar red and white, with a small CV logo. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In 1967, the National Steel Car Corporation made the first cars for transporting newsprint between Canada and the US. These cars had riveted or welded sides and smooth interiors, including the doors, to protect 2000 - pound paper rolls. The rolls were stacked two - high, so the cars needed an internal height over 9 feet. They also had large door openings with sliding Youngstown lever - type or lever - less exterior post plug doors. Seven railroads bought these cars, and they were used in international paper shipping until the late 2000s. They had many colorful paint schemes, making them easy to spot. This model features separately applied detail parts, accurate paint schemes and door setups, knuckle couplers, and free - rolling Symington roller bearing trucks.
Using this Atlas HO Scale Central Vermont NSC Newsprint Box Car is simple. You can place it on your HO scale train track and run it with your other train cars. When handling the car, be gentle to avoid damaging the separately applied detail parts. Keep it away from sharp objects and rough surfaces. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior regularly. If there's dust inside the car, you can use a small, soft brush to carefully remove it. Don't submerge the car in water as it may damage the paint and the mechanical parts like the knuckle couplers and the trucks. Store it in a cool, dry place when not in use to prevent any warping or damage to the model.
