Description
This BLI HO scale model represents the Ontario Northland SD40-2 locomotive, numbered #1734, in a blue and yellow arrow paint scheme. Introduced in 1972, the SD40-2 is a highly popular diesel locomotive. EMD built nearly 4,000 units between 1972 and 1989. It's known for its reliability and became an industry standard. Our model features the Paragon4 Sound & Control System with ROLLING THUNDER, an integral dual-mode decoder for smooth DC and DCC operation, a precision drive mechanism for heavy towing, and many other high - end details. The Paragon4 system offers various functions like dual - mode operation, pro lighting control, and record & play features. It comes with a factory - installed engineer figure and metal Kadee - compatible couplers. It can operate on Code 70, 83, and 100 rail with a minimum operating radius of 18 inches.

Using this BLI HO scale SD40 - 2 locomotive is easy. First, check the track you're using. It can run on Code 70, 83, and 100 rail, but make sure the radius is at least 18 inches. If you're using DC power, you can use the DCMaster for DC sound. When using DCC, the built - in decoder will handle everything. To start, just connect it to your power source and watch it go. For controlling lights and sounds, you can use the Paragon4 system's features. There are different modes like Pro Lighting Mode and Switcher Mode. When you're done using it, turn off the power. As for maintenance, keep it clean. You can use a soft brush to remove dust from the body and wheels. Avoid using harsh chemicals. If you notice any issues with the electrical pick - up, check the capacitor pack. Also, make sure the couplers are in good condition for proper connection to other cars.
