Description
This HO scale Atlas 20006300 FMC 52' double-door boxcar, numbered Southern Pacific #246104, comes in blue, yellow, and red colors. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In the past 50 years, box cars usually fall into one of five frame lengths, and the 52-foot ones are the least common. Despite being less numerous than others, they've played an important role in the lumber industry. This car is like a 'stretched' 5277 with an extra foot outside the bolsters, giving it a unique overhang. It has double sliding doors and a cushioned underframe. Southern Pacific was the only original operator, ordering 700 of these distinct boxcars. Features include double sliding doors, wire grabs, etched parts, a Plate C box car design, and an X-Panel roof.

Using this boxcar is easy. You can simply place it on your HO scale model train track to add realism to your layout. When handling it, be gentle to avoid damaging the delicate etched parts and wire grabs. For maintenance, use a soft brush to clean the dust off the car regularly. Keep it in a dry place to prevent any rusting or damage to the paint. Also, check the double sliding doors from time to time to make sure they slide smoothly. If they get stuck, you can use a small amount of lubricant, but be careful not to get it on other parts of the car.
