Description
Get this HO Scale Atlas 20004571 70-Ton Hart Ballast Car 3-pack featuring Erie Lackawanna #39871, 39884, 39902. These black cars are from post - 1960 with a patched - out logo. Note that the picture might show a different road number. Built by ACF® between 1940 - 1953, they were originally called “Hart Selective Service Ballast Cars”. Their specially - designed doors let you discharge the load in three ways: at the rail center, at the center and sides, or just at the sides. Key features include a die - cast chassis, ready - to - run operation, 70 - ton friction - bearing trucks, separately - applied side - dump doors that can be opened or closed, detailed separately - applied grab irons, coupler cut lever, train line hose, and air brake piping. The interior is fully detailed with cross - bracing and side stiffeners. It's AccuMate® Proto - Coupler ready and comes with screws in the packaging. Also, it has accurate painting and printing.
Using these HO Scale Atlas 70 - Ton Hart Ballast Cars is a breeze. Since they're ready - to - run, you can just take them out of the box and place them on your model train track. To unload the ballast, you can adjust the separately - applied side - dump doors to your preferred position. You can open them to discharge the load at the center of the rails, at the center and sides, or just at the sides. When handling the cars, be gentle with the separately - applied grab irons, coupler cut lever, train line hose, and air brake piping as they are delicate. For maintenance, keep the cars clean. You can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off dust. Check the 70 - ton friction - bearing trucks regularly to make sure they roll smoothly. If you want to install the AccuMate® Proto - Coupler, use the screws that come in the packaging. But make sure to do it carefully to avoid any damage.
