This is a limited - edition HO scale Atlas USRA rebuilt steel 40 - foot box car painted for the freelance model railroad of Ohio Southern. The road number is OS 11676. Note that the picture might show a different road number. Jim Hediger, a 43 - year staff member of Model Railroader Magazine, had his own freelance model railroad, the Ohio Southern, often featured in the magazine to inspire modelers. This car, based on DT&I paint and lettering standards, proudly displays the large OS compass logo. By WWII, most classic USRA double - sheathed box cars were rebuilt with steel sides, and more rebuilds followed later. These steel - side cars are a great addition to the Atlas HO scale product line. The Atlas USRA HO Rebuilt Steel 40 - foot Box Car comes ready - to - run, with a highly detailed 10 - panel body, accurate painting and printing, brake detail, AccuMate® couplers, an opening door, and separately applied wire grabs and side ladders. It also features 7 - 8 or 5 - 5 - 5 panel ends and fishbelly or straight underframe as per the prototype. However, the inside height of the model may vary from the prototype.

Using this HO scale box car is easy. Just take it out of the package and it's ready to run on your model railroad track. It fits well with other HO scale items in your collection. When handling the car, be gentle to avoid damaging the detailed parts like the wire grabs and side ladders. If you want to clean it, use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the body. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they may damage the paint and printing. Store the box car in a dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the color from fading. And remember, the inside height of the model might be different from the real - life prototype, but it's still a great addition to your model railroad.
