Description
This HO scale Atlas Master 50' Plug Door Boxcar, numbered #327 of CGW Chicago Great Western, comes in eye - catching boxcar red and black. The picture might show a different road number. Starting in the mid - 1950s, the AAR design was used to make these plug - door, insulated boxcars. Ideal for food and perishable goods that need temperature control without refrigeration. They feature 8/8 panel riveted sides, an 8 - foot door opening, straight side sills, and overhanging diagonal panel roofs. Nationwide roads had these cars painted in bright colors. Key features include a highly detailed, ready - to - run model with accurate painting and printing, late improved Dreadnaught ends, a prototype - like roof with or without a roofwalk, a straight - side sill body design, 8/8 panel riveted sides, a detailed underframe, separately - applied ladders, grab irons and latch bars, blackened metal wheels, and AccuMate® couplers.
Using this HO scale boxcar is easy. Just take it out of the box and place it on your model train track. It's ready - to - run, so you can start using it right away. When handling the boxcar, be gentle with the separately - applied ladders, grab irons, and latch bars as they are delicate. Avoid dropping the boxcar to prevent damage to the highly detailed parts. For maintenance, use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body of the boxcar. Don't use any harsh chemicals as they may damage the paint and printing. Check the wheels regularly to make sure they are rolling smoothly. If you notice any issues with the AccuMate® couplers, try cleaning them gently with a small brush. Store the boxcar in a cool, dry place when not in use to keep it in good condition.
