Description
The Atlas 50005242 Class X72 50' Boxcar WP - Western Pacific #4055 in N Scale is a must - have for railroad enthusiasts. The picture might show a different road number. In 1972, the Penn Central and Western Pacific ordered smooth - sided box cars from US Railroad Manufacturing in Illinois. The PC's 574 - car order became the “X72” design with smooth, welded sides and a large 6 - panel Superior door for easy forklift operation. The next year, PC ordered 500 larger X72A box cars. These cars served general purposes across North American railroads. After PC's end in the late 70s, Conrail took them over and they ran until the 90s. Later, Conrail sold most of the X72/72A fleet. By the 2000s, most were phased out, but some still run in Mexico and South America. The X72 and X72A had many paint schemes, like Conrail's “Buy And Hold US Savings Bonds” one. Some cars even kept the PC green. Atlas offers great - looking X72 models in various schemes. Features include crisp painting and printing, a durable body, free - rolling trucks, a detailed brakewheel, and knuckle couplers.

Using this N Scale Atlas boxcar is easy. You can simply place it on your model railroad track. Whether you're creating a small train set or a large, complex layout, it'll fit right in. When handling it, be gentle to avoid any damage to the delicate parts like the brakewheel and couplers. To keep it in good condition, clean it regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Store it in a cool, dry place when not in use to prevent any warping or damage to the body. And if you notice any parts getting loose, you can use a small amount of glue suitable for model trains to fix them. Have fun building your dream railroad with this great boxcar!
