The Atlas 10004210 DASH 8-40C Pan Am #7534 is a remarkable HO scale model featuring front ditch lights, DCC & Sound. The picture might show a different road number. First built for Union Pacific in the late 1980s by General Electric, these diesel locomotives have an enlarged exhaust stack and unique dynamic brake grids. The 4,000 hp six-axle engines are still in service in North America. The Dash 8-40CW, produced from 1989 - 1993, introduced the wide-nose 'North American Safety Cab'. It's widely used by major railroads and still in regular freight service. Upgraded features (2024 or later) include metal couplers, improved lighting, independently controlled lit number and marker lights, better windshield glazing, etched metal wipers, and a new cab side.
