As the 53' container became the norm for domestic shipping, older well cars for 48' boxes were phased out. In 2003, Thrall started a rebuilding project, shortening the wells to 40' on single and five-unit cars. Now, these cars can carry 20' and 40' containers in the well and 40' and 53' units on top. These fully assembled models are ready for action and come with great features: a one-time run of these road numbers with limited quantity, so order now! They have 100- and 70-ton roller bearing trucks, correct 36' and 33' RP-25 turned metal wheelsets, a heavy die-cast metal frame for great performance whether empty or loaded, finely molded 3-D brake rods with chains, brake piping and weld lines on the body, separate deck-mounted brake detail with piping, IBC storage boxes and realistic walkways, and Proto MAX(TM) metal knuckle couplers. Using your Walthers HO Scale Thrall Well Car is a breeze. Just place it on your model train tracks and it's ready to roll. You can load 20' and 40' containers in the well and 40' and 53' units on top to make it look more realistic. When handling, be gentle as the small parts like the brake rods and couplers can be fragile. To keep it in good condition, regularly clean the wheels with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. Also, check the couplers from time to time to make sure they're working properly. If you notice any loose parts, use a small amount of glue to secure them. And remember, this is a limited - quantity item, so take good care of it!
