Description
The FVM 10136 Trinity RD-4 Coal Hopper from Fox Valley Models in N Scale, featuring UP Union Pacific/Building America #503742. Note that the picture might show a different road number. The Trinity RD-4 is a 4200 cubic foot modern aluminum coal hopper built since the mid-1990s and still in service today. Railroads and public utilities use these cars in unit trains to transport coal from fields to power plants or ports for export. This FVM RD-4 Hopper - UP comes with new road numbers, suitable for the era from 2003 to present. It belongs to the series 503600 - 503959, built from Oct 03 to Jan 04. It's fully assembled with a detailed plastic body and die-cast weight with interior detail. The removable coal load, detailed free-rolling trucks, 36” machined metal wheels, and body-mounted operating knuckle couplers (Micro-Trains® compatible) are some of its great features. The printing and lettering are clear even under magnification, and it's weighted to industry standards for reliable operation. It can operate on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail, and comes in a clear jewel box for safe storage. The minimum radius is 9 ¾” and the recommended radius is 11”.

Using this N Scale coal hopper is easy. Just place it on your Code 55, 70, or 80 rail track. Make sure the radius of your track is at least 9 ¾ inches, though 11 inches is recommended for better operation. The hopper is fully assembled, so you can start using it right away. When it comes to the removable coal load, you can take it out and refill it as you like to simulate real - world coal transportation. The body - mounted operating knuckle couplers are Micro - Trains® compatible, so you can connect it easily with other cars. For maintenance, keep it clean. You can use a soft cloth to wipe the detailed plastic body and the die - cast weight. Check the 36” machined metal wheels regularly to ensure they roll freely. If there are any issues with the couplers or the trucks, handle them gently. Store the model in the clear jewel box when not in use to protect it from dust and damage.
