Description
The FVM 10128 Trinity RD-4 Coal Hopper from Fox Valley Models in N Scale represents the UP Union Pacific/Building America #503648. Note that the picture might show a different road number. The Trinity RD-4 is a 4200 cubic foot modern aluminum hopper car built since the mid-1990s and still in service today. Railroads and public utilities use these cars in unit trains to transport coal from mines to power plants or export ports. This FVM RD-4 Hopper - UP comes with new road numbers, suitable for the era from 2003 to present. It's fully assembled with a detailed plastic body and die - cast weight with interior detail. It has a removable coal load, detailed free - rolling trucks, 36” machined metal wheels, and body - mounted operating knuckle couplers compatible with Micro - Trains®. The printing and lettering are clear even under magnification. Weighted to industry standards, it operates on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail and comes in a clear jewel box for safe storage. The minimum radius is 9 ¾” and the recommended radius is 11”. Coal transport by train has evolved over time, and the RD - 4 is a great example of modern high - capacity, low - weight coal hoppers.

Using this N Scale FVM 10128 Trinity RD - 4 Coal Hopper is easy. First, place it on Code 55, 70, or 80 rail. Make sure the radius of your track is at least 9 ¾”, but 11” is recommended for better operation. You can connect it to other cars using the body - mounted operating knuckle couplers which are compatible with Micro - Trains®. The removable coal load allows you to change the look of your train easily. When it comes to maintenance, keep the wheels clean to ensure smooth rolling. You can use a soft cloth to wipe the detailed plastic body and remove any dust. The die - cast weight inside adds stability, but be careful not to drop the model as it might damage the interior detail. Store it in the clear jewel box when not in use to protect it from scratches and dust.
