Description
The FVM 10124 Trinity RD - 4 Coal Hopper from Fox Valley Models in N Scale is a great addition to your model railroad collection. It features the livery of UP Union Pacific and Building America with #503617, though the picture might show a different road number. The Trinity RD - 4 is a modern 4200 - cubic - foot aluminum coal hopper built since the mid - 1990s and still in use today. Railroads and public utilities use these cars in unit trains to transport coal from fields to power plants or export ports. This FVM RD - 4 Hopper offers new road numbers, and it's from the era 2003 to present. It belongs to the series 503600 - 503959, built from Oct 03 to Jan 04. It comes fully assembled with a detailed plastic body and a die - cast weight with interior details. You can apply interior braces as a modeler, and it has a removable coal load. The detailed free - rolling trucks have 36” machined metal wheels. It uses body - mounted operating knuckle couplers compatible with Micro - Trains®. The printing and lettering are clear even under magnification, and it's weighted to industry standards for reliable operation. It can operate on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail. Packed in a clear jewel box for safe storage, it has a minimum radius of 9 ¾” and a recommended radius of 11”. Coal transport by train has evolved over time, and this modern hopper represents the latest in coal - hauling technology.

Using this coal hopper model is easy. Just place it on your Code 55, 70, or 80 rail track. Make sure the track radius is at least 9 ¾”, but 11” is recommended for better operation. The car comes fully assembled, so you can start using it right away. You can add the modeler - applied interior braces for extra detail if you want. The removable coal load allows you to change the look of the car. When it comes to maintenance, keep it clean. You can gently dust the plastic body and metal parts. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the paint or details. If the wheels or couplers seem stiff, you can use a little bit of lubricant, but be careful not to over - lubricate. Store the model in its clear jewel box when not in use to protect it from dust and damage.
