Description
Kato presents the 176 - 4377 EMD NW2 BN Burlington Northern #534 in N Scale with Standard DC operation. The picture might show a different road number. This N Scale EMD NW2 switcher from Kato is a great fit for your railroad from the late - steam era to the present. First built in the early 1940s, its production almost stopped in 1942 due to the War Production Board, but it made a comeback after the war. Even in 2024, some are still in service. The Kato replica has amazing detail, an accurate body, and a flywheel - equipped drive for low - speed, high - power pulling. It has directional headlights without spoiling the cab interior, low - profile wheels for Code 55 and larger rail, illuminated number boards, and Kato magnetic knuckle couplers. You can swap the lighting control board for a DCC decoder later (sold separately). It can handle 9 - 3/4' radius curves, but larger ones are better.
Using this Kato N Scale EMD NW2 switcher is easy. Just connect it to your standard DC power source and watch it go on your railroad tracks. It's suitable for tracks with Code 55 and larger rail thanks to its low - profile wheels. When running it, remember that while it can handle curves as sharp as 9 - 3/4' radius, larger curves will give it a smoother ride. For maintenance, keep it clean. You can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off any dust or dirt. If you plan to upgrade to DCC operation, you can swap the lighting control board for a DCC decoder (which you'll need to buy separately). Make sure to follow the installation instructions carefully when doing this. Store it in a cool, dry place when not in use to keep it in good condition.
