Description
The Circuitron 5624 ER-2 External Relay is a top - notch device. It features a double pole double throw (DPDT) 2 - amp relay and all the necessary driver circuitry. This relay can be directly connected to the output of any CIRCUITRON Detection Unit. Ideal for use with CIRCUITRON Block Occupancy Detectors, it enables automatic train control. The relay contacts can control both AC and DC circuits. With 12 - volt relays, it requires a 11 to 14 volts DC supply. It places a negligible load on the connected Detection Unit as the control current is just about 2 milliamps. You can connect it using.110″ solderless connectors or by soldering leads to the PCB terminals. Use a small pencil - type iron and 60/40 electronics - grade rosin core solder for soldering.
Here's how to use the Circuitron 5624 ER-2 External Relay. First, find a good spot to mount the circuit board. You can drill out the mounting pads on the board's corners or use CIRCUITRON’s Printed Circuit Mounting Track for an easy setup. Next, connect the supply terminals [+] and [-] to a 11 - 14 volts DC power source, which should be the same one used for your Detection Units. Remember, never connect AC power to these terminals as it may damage the control transistor and won't be covered by the warranty. Then, connect the Control Terminal [CONTROL] to the output of a CIRCUITRON Detection Unit according to your application. Finally, connect the devices you want to control to the numbered contact terminals on the circuit board. For soldering, use a small pencil - type iron and 60/40 electronics - grade rosin core solder. Apply only the necessary heat and don't move the terminal until the solder cools. As for maintenance, keep it in a dry and clean environment and check the connections regularly.
