Description
The Atlas 50005241 is an N Scale 50-foot boxcar representing Canadian National #416381 in brown and white. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In 1972, the Penn Central and Western Pacific ordered smooth-sided box cars from US Railroad Manufacturing in Blue Island, Illinois. The PC's 574-car order became the 'X72' design with smooth, welded sides and a large 6-panel Superior door for forklift operation. The next year, PC ordered 500 slightly larger X72A box cars. These cars were used for general purposes and were common across the North American railroad system. After PC's end in the late 70s, Conrail took over the cars, which remained in service until the 90s. By the 2000s, most X72 box cars were phased out, but some still run in Mexico and South America. The X72 and X72A had many paint schemes, like Conrail's 'Buy And Hold US Savings Bonds' one. Some cars even stayed in PC green. Whether you need a few or a large group for your train, the X72 from Atlas looks great. Features include crisp painting and printing, a durable body, free-rolling trucks, a detailed brakewheel, and knuckle couplers.

Using this N scale boxcar is easy. You can simply place it on your N scale train track as part of your train set. Whether you're building a small train or a large one, it'll fit right in. When handling the boxcar, be gentle to avoid any damage to the delicate parts like the brakewheel or couplers. To keep it in good condition, clean it regularly with a soft, dry cloth. If there's any dirt on the wheels, you can use a small brush to carefully clean them. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the paint from fading. This way, your boxcar will look great and last a long time on your railroad layout.
