Description
The Atlas 50005236 Class X72 50' Boxcar CR in N Scale represents Conrail 269909, with a brown and white color scheme and a small logo. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In 1972, the Penn Central and Western Pacific ordered smooth - sided box cars from US Railroad Manufacturing in Illinois. The 'X72' design, with 574 cars ordered by PC, had smooth welded sides and a large 6 - panel Superior door for forklift use. The next year, 500 slightly larger X72A box cars were ordered. These cars were used for general purposes across North America. After PC's downfall in the late 70s, Conrail took over the cars, which were in service until the 90s. Later, most were sold to Canadian National, short lines, or scrapped. By the 2000s, most X72s were out of service, but some still run in Mexico and South America. The X72 and X72A had many paint schemes, like Conrail's 'Buy And Hold US Savings Bonds' one. Some cars even stayed in PC green. This Atlas boxcar looks great in any of the offered schemes. Features include crisp painting and printing, a durable body, free - rolling trucks, a detailed brakewheel, and knuckle couplers.

Using this Atlas N Scale boxcar is easy. Just place it on your model railroad track and let it roll with your other cars. When handling it, be gentle to avoid any damage to the couplers or the body. To keep it in good shape, clean it regularly with a soft, dry cloth. If you notice any dirt on the wheels, you can use a mild cleaning solution to wipe them down. Store the boxcar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the paint from fading. Also, make sure to check the couplers from time to time to ensure they are working properly. If they seem loose or don't connect well, you might need to make some adjustments.
