Description
The Atlas 11,000 Gallon Tank Car, part number 150 - 50004738, represents Mississippi Chemical #501 in N scale. Note that the picture might show a different road number. Propane or LPG, a natural and refining by - product, became popular as a cleaner fuel in the 1940s. Transporting it needed special high - pressure tank cars. ACF introduced the 11,000 gallon tank car in 1947. Atlas offers two versions of this late steam/early diesel era tank car: with and without platform rails. The cars with top platform rails were for places without elevated loading/unloading facilities, while those without were for customers with such facilities. This model features finely molded handrails, tank fittings, safety placards, 50 - ton friction - bearing trucks with AccuMate® couplers, accurate painting, and lettering, and a platform when appropriate.

Using your Atlas 11,000 Gallon Tank Car is easy. You can simply place it on your N - scale train track. When setting up your train layout, choose the right version of the tank car based on whether your loading and unloading areas are elevated or not. As for maintenance, keep it clean. You can use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the body, handrails, and other parts to remove dust. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials as they may damage the accurate painting and lettering. When storing, keep it in a cool, dry place to prevent any warping or damage to the delicate parts like the finely molded handrails and tank fittings. Also, be careful when handling the car to avoid knocking off the safety placards or other small details.
