Description
This is the Atlas 20005787 GARX insulated 50-foot boxcar (reefer) in HO scale, representing Denver & Rio Grande Western #50929. Note that the picture might show a different road number. A collaborative work between General American and Evans Products, these AAR class bunkerless refrigerator cars started production in the early 1950s. They feature two large horizontal panels beside a 7’7” door. The horizontal rivet strip joining the panels gives them a unique look. With fewer seams than regular box cars, they're less likely to rust and leak. By 1959, over 1,000 of these boxcars were made. Key features include an 8’ plug with separate latch bars, overhanging diagonal panel roofs, accurate postwar ends, and precise painting and printing.
Using this HO scale boxcar is simple. You can place it on your model train track and enjoy watching it roll along. When handling the car, be gentle to avoid any damage to its delicate parts. For maintenance, keep it clean. You can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off dust regularly. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or high humidity, as this can cause the paint to peel or the body to warp. If you notice any loose parts, you can use a small amount of glue suitable for model trains to fix them. Remember, this is a model, so it's not designed for rough play. Treat it with care, and it will last you a long time.
