Description
Explore the Atlas Gold 10004279 GE U30B CSX #5352 HO scale model train. This train, in former Chessie livery of yellow, blue, and vermillion, comes with DCC and sound. The picture might show a different road number. Powered by a V16 FDL prime mover, the 3,000 h.p. U30B was GE's response to EMD's GP40 and ALCO's C430 locomotives. GE built 295 U30Bs from 1966 to 1975. This is a 'phase 2' U30B, recognizable by the evenly - built hood below the radiator. You can tell it from the U23B by two sets of four tall engine access doors near the long - hood center. It had various trucks during production. Norfolk & Western had 75 phase 2 U30Bs with high short hoods. Other big owners were C&O, Frisco, and Western Pacific. Few are still in service. Features include a snow plow (when appropriate), separately - applied scale details like windshield wipers, a five - pole skewed armature motor with dual flywheels for smooth running at all speeds, directional lighting with golden - white LEDs, and blackened metal wheels. Special features are an optional high short hood, low nose headlights, and different cabs and trucks per road name. The Atlas Master Series Gold offers an ESU LokSound decoder, flexible function key mapping, compliance with NMRA DCC standards, and over 20 sound effects. Note: You can't MU a non - sound loco in DC (analog) mode due to the sound system's high starting voltage.
Using this model train is a breeze. Just connect it to your DCC system and you're ready to go. When it comes to the sound system, make sure your power supply can meet the higher starting voltage requirements. Don't try to couple a non - sound - equipped loco in DC (analog) mode as it won't work. For maintenance, keep the train clean. You can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe away dust. Check the wheels regularly for any dirt or debris. If the train seems to be running less smoothly, you can lightly lubricate the moving parts. When storing the train, keep it in a dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent any damage to the paint or components.
