Description
The Atlas 20006295 FMC 5503 52-foot double-door boxcar in HO scale is a great addition for model train enthusiasts. This boxcar is part of the Golden West Service #780013, painted in blue, yellow, and red. Please note the picture might show a different road number. In the past 50 years, box cars typically come in five frame lengths: 40, 50, 52, 60, and 86 feet. The 52-foot box cars are the least common but have played an important role in the lumber industry. This car is like a “stretched” 5277 with an extra foot outside the bolsters, creating a distinctive overhang. It has double sliding doors and a cushioned underframe. Southern Pacific was the only original operator, ordering 700 of these uniquely designed boxcars, split among Southern Pacific (525 cars), Amador Central (75 cars), and the Longview, Portland & Northern (100 cars). Features include double sliding doors, wire grabs, etched parts, a Plate C box car, and an X-Panel roof.

Using this HO scale boxcar is easy. Just place it on your model train track and let it roll with the rest of your train cars. When handling it, be gentle to avoid any damage to the delicate parts like the wire grabs and etched details. To keep it looking great, you can use a soft, dry cloth to dust it regularly. If it gets dirty, you can use a mild soap and water solution, but make sure to dry it thoroughly afterwards. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or high humidity, as this could cause the paint to peel or the parts to warp. Also, when storing it, keep it in a safe place where it won't get bumped or crushed.
