Description
The 1318 TCS Train Control System comes with a K1D4-NC Kato Decoder in N Scale (Part # 745-1318). It features a drop-in interface type, with dimensions of 2.705' x 0.38' x 0.059' (68.7mm x 9.64mm x 1.5mm). The decoder has a continuous/peak current of 1.0/2.0 Amp, 4 total functions, and a function rating of 80 mA. It has 2 12V outputs, 2 LED outputs, and 2 onboard LEDs. This N-scale drop-in decoder is designed for Kato and Athearn locomotives like Kato's SD70ACe, SD40-2, GG1, and Athearn's SD75I. Note that this version doesn't have copper tabs for motor contacts; use wires to attach motor leads. It offers many great features such as Back EMF Load Compensation for superior slow speed control, Quiet Drive for buzz-free motor performance, DC Mode for automatic DC power detection, RailCom® for communication with the command station, Variable Momentum for custom acceleration and deceleration, LED Support without external resistors, Incandescent Bulb Support for 12 Volt bulbs, Function Remapping for lighting control, Programmable Lighting Effects with 20 options, Dimmable Brightness for LEDs or bulbs, Decoder Lock to prevent accidental programming, Airwire™ Compatibility, and User-Loadable Speed Tables for custom speed curves and limits.

Using this train control system is a breeze. First, identify if your locomotive is a Kato or Athearn model like SD70ACe, SD40 - 2, GG1, or SD75I. Since this version of the decoder doesn't have copper tabs, you'll need to use wires to attach the motor leads. When installing, make sure to handle it gently to avoid any damage. The decoder will automatically detect DC power, but you can also set up how the lighting effects work on DC. For programming, you can choose from 20 different lighting effects, remap buttons 0 through 12 to control lighting, and set custom speed curves and limits. Remember to activate the Decoder Lock to prevent any accidental programming. When it comes to maintenance, keep it clean and dry. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or moisture. If you have any issues, check the connections first and make sure the power supply is stable. Enjoy your model train operation with this great decoder!
