Description
The Logic Rail BAD-CC Block Animator is a great solution for all scale model trains. It allows you to re-create near - prototypical signal behavior without breaking the bank. The infrared version (with - IR suffix and 4 sets of emitters & detectors) works under any layout lighting. It offers bi - directional control of 2 block signals. For example, an eastbound train makes signal EB change from green to red when sensor E2 is covered, then to yellow, and finally back to green. A westbound train has a similar effect on signal EB with sensor E1. Signal WB behaves the same for the opposite direction. You can watch a video of it in action on a customer's layout. This Block Animator comes in various versions for different signal types. BA - 1/BA - 1 - IR is for searchlight or 3 - light LED - based signals with a common anode. It has 'TrueLens' and selectable yellow hue for searchlight signals and includes current - limiting resistors. BA - 2/BA - 2 - IR is for specific searchlight signals and also has 'TrueLens2' and selectable yellow hue for bipolar LED signals with current - limiting resistors. BAD - SBCA/BAD - SBCA - IR is for controlling certain semaphore motors and position light signals. BAD - CC/BAD - CC - IR is for Pennsy/B&O position light and 3 - light LED - based signals with a common cathode. The signal aspects are sequenced prototypically based on the train's direction of travel. You can select the yellow delay (10 or 30 seconds). It supports approach lighting. It shows correct aspects even if a train moves in an irregular way. No modification to track wiring or rolling stock is needed. Each sensor has its own sensitivity adjustment, and there's a setup mode for easy adjustment. The infrared versions are powered from 7 - 9V AC or 9 - 12V DC and draw about 360mA (more with bulb - type signals).

Using the Logic Rail BAD - CC Block Animator is quite straightforward. First, choose the right version for your model train signals according to the signal type. If you have an infrared version, connect it to a 7 - 9V AC or 9 - 12V DC power source. Make sure to adjust the sensitivity of each sensor using the provided setup mode. This will help the animator detect the trains accurately. When setting up the signals, pay attention to the direction of travel. The animator will sequence the signal aspects based on which way the train is moving. You can select the yellow delay time, either 10 or 30 seconds, depending on your preference. For maintenance, keep the animator clean and free from dust. If you're using bulb - type signals, be aware that the animator may draw more current. Also, check the wiring regularly to ensure everything is connected properly. Don't worry about modifying your track wiring or rolling stock, as this animator works without such changes. Just enjoy the realistic signal behavior it brings to your model train layout.
