Description
The FVM 10061 Trinity RD - 4 Coal Hopper from Fox Valley Models in N Scale, BNSF/Heritage III #651551. The picture might show a different road number. The Trinity RD - 4 Coal hopper is a 4200 - cubic - foot modern car built since the mid - 1990s and still in use today. Railroads and public utilities use these aluminum hopper cars in unit trains to transport coal from coal fields to power plants or export ports. The FVM RD - 4 Hopper for BNSF features new road numbers, is from the 2005 - present era, and belongs to the 651400 - 652574 series built from Jun - Dec 2005. It's fully assembled with a detailed plastic body, die - cast weight with interior detail, and modeler - applied interior braces. It has a removable coal load, detailed free - rolling trucks, 36” machined metal wheels, and body - mounted operating knuckle couplers compatible with Micro - Trains®. The printing and lettering are clear even under magnification, and it's weighted to industry standards for reliable operation. It operates on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail, comes in a clear jewel - box packaging, has a minimum radius of 9 ¾” and a recommended radius of 11”. Coal has been transported by train since the start of railroads, evolving from single - car loads to modern unit trains. Cars have developed from early wood and composite ones to modern aluminum hoppers like the Trinity RD - 4, which has a 4200 - cubic - foot capacity, is a Plate F car, and can be emptied quickly either as a conventional bottom - dump car or with a rotary dumper.

Using this coal hopper model is easy. You can operate it on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail. Just place it on the track and let it roll. The minimum radius for operation is 9 ¾ inches, but we recommend a radius of 11 inches for better performance. When it comes to the coal load, it's removable, so you can take it out and put it back in as you like. The car is fully assembled, but if you want to add more details, you can apply the interior braces yourself. For maintenance, keep it clean. You can gently dust it off with a soft cloth. Since it's weighted to industry standards, make sure not to tamper with the weight inside. The body - mounted operating knuckle couplers are compatible with Micro - Trains®, so be careful when attaching or detaching other cars. And when storing it, use the clear jewel - box packaging to keep it safe from scratches and damage.
