Description
The FVM 10050 Trinity RD - 4 Coal Hopper from Fox Valley Models in N Scale is a must - have for model train enthusiasts. The picture might show a different road number. The Trinity RD - 4 Coal hopper, a 4200 - cubic - foot modern car built since the mid - 1990s and still in use today, is used by railroads and public utilities in unit trains to transport coal from coal fields to power plants or export ports. The FVM RD - 4 Hopper for BNSF comes with new road numbers, suitable for the era from 2005 to the present. Part of the 651400 - 652574 series built from June to December 2005, it offers many great features. It's fully assembled, with a detailed plastic body and a die - cast weight with interior details. You can add modeler - applied interior braces. The removable coal load adds to the fun. It has detailed free - rolling trucks and 36” machined metal wheels. The body - mounted operating knuckle couplers are Micro - Trains® compatible. The printing and lettering are clear even under magnification. Weighted to industry standards, it operates smoothly on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail. It comes in a clear jewel box for safe storage. With a minimum radius of 9 ¾” and a recommended radius of 11”, it's a great addition to your model train layout. Coal transportation by train has evolved over time, and the modern aluminum Trinity RD - 4 Coal hopper is a result of that evolution. With a 4200 - cubic - foot capacity and labeled as a Plate F car, it's big and can be emptied quickly either as a conventional bottom - dump car or with a rotary dumper thanks to its rotary couplers.

Using your FVM 10050 Trinity RD - 4 Coal Hopper is easy. First, place it on your model train track with a radius of at least 9 ¾ inches, though 11 inches is recommended. You can connect it to other cars using the body - mounted operating knuckle couplers that are compatible with Micro - Trains®. The removable coal load can be added or taken out as you like, giving you a realistic coal - transporting experience. When it comes to maintenance, keep it clean. You can use a soft brush to remove dust from the detailed plastic body, the trucks, and the wheels. Check the couplers regularly to make sure they're working properly. Store it in the clear jewel box when not in use to protect it from damage. Remember, this model is weighted to industry standards, so it should run smoothly on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail. But avoid using it on tracks with sharp turns or poor conditions to prevent derailment.
