Description
The ESU 59827 LokPilot V5.0 Micro DCC decoder with NEM651 6 - Pin Interface is a remarkable innovation. It's the tiniest digital decoder from ESU so far. Using subminiature components, 8 - layer printed circuit boards and the latest manufacturing tech, it's incredibly small (only 8.0mm x 7.0mm and 2.4mm thick, 2.9mm on the capacitor). This means it can fit into very small locomotives like those in Z, N, or TT nominal sizes. Despite its small size, it doesn't skimp on functionality and robustness compared to larger versions. LokPilot 5 micro decoders come with all common interfaces. The ones with Next18 or PluX16 interface are a bit bigger (13.0mm x 9.2mm base area) and support the mfx - compatible M4 protocol. Decoder specs include a size of 8.0 mm x 7.0 mm x 2.4 mm (0.32 in x 0.28 in x 0.10 in), a NEM651 6 - pin integral connector, a 0.75A continuous motor rating, motor control with 50 kHz clock frequency, 4 amplified outputs for special functions and 2 logic - level outputs (up to 6 outputs in total), and it uses the DCC with RailComPlus protocol. Additional features are updatability with ESU - LokProgrammer, two - stage heavy load simulation, 3 new and individually adjustable brake controllers, a connection interface for RC servos and SUSI modules, and optional PowerPack storage capacitor connections.

Using this decoder is quite straightforward. First, make sure to connect it properly to your locomotive using the NEM651 6 - pin integral connector. When you power up your setup, the decoder should start working with the DCC with RailComPlus protocol. You can update it using the ESU - LokProgrammer if there are any new features or bug fixes. For the special functions, use the 4 amplified outputs and 2 logic - level outputs as needed. When it comes to maintenance, keep it clean and free from dust. If you notice any issues with the motor control or the functions, check the connections first. Be careful when handling it due to its small size. Also, when using the optional PowerPack storage capacitor connections, follow the instructions carefully. The two - stage heavy load simulation and the individually adjustable brake controllers can be adjusted according to your locomotive's needs, but do so gradually to see the best results.
