Description
This N Scale Atlas Master General American 3500 Dry-Flo 3-Bay Covered Hopper represents ATSF Santa Fe #300665 in gray and black. Note that the picture might show a different road number. The 3500 Cubic Foot Dry-Flo Covered Hopper was a key commodity hauler for over 40 years. In 1959, General American began making these hoppers to meet the demand for larger ones to handle bulk commodities. The innovations in covered hoppers during the 1950s were very useful to shippers who needed hoppers for larger amounts of specialized goods like oats and malt. This model is designed to match the prototype precisely. Engineered from prototype blueprints, it pays great attention to both body and paint details, as expected from Atlas. Features include being ready-to-run, made of injection-molded plastic, with fine-scale details, separate brake details, a chemically etched brake platform, accurate painting and printing, a prototypical ride height, 70-Ton ASF Ride Control Trucks, 33' metal wheels, and a body-mounted scale coupler.
Using this N Scale hopper model is easy. Just take it out of the box and place it on your N Scale track. It's ready to run right away. When handling it, be gentle to avoid any damage to the fine details. For storage, keep it in a cool and dry place to prevent the plastic from warping. If the model gets dirty, you can use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe it clean. Avoid using any harsh chemicals or solvents as they might damage the paint or plastic. Regularly check the wheels and couplers to make sure they're in good working condition. If you notice any loose parts, you can use a small amount of glue suitable for plastic to fix them, but be careful not to get glue on other parts of the model.
