Description
The ATLAS 50005722 is a remarkable N scale 48-foot cushion coil car, specifically representing IHB Indiana Harbor Belt #1208 (note: the picture might show a different road number). In the early 1960s, Evans Products identified a demand for specialized cars to transport coiled steel. Back then, existing cars were often 70-ton specially equipped mill gondolas. The new coil-steel cars designed for this specific commodity had a 100-ton capacity, featuring a trough frame and body. Their early designs were refined in the 1960s, and Evans eventually adopted a 48-foot length as standard. Production continued well into the 1970s. The Atlas 48-foot coil steel car is based on the 1967 Evans design and closely resembles the 1970s models. It comes with amazing features such as a die-cast body for durability, crisp painting and lettering for a realistic look, two removable rounded hoods with stacking frames for flexibility, and a detailed wood-lined trough floor for added authenticity.

Using this ATLAS N scale 48-foot cushion coil car is easy. Just place it on your model train track and it's ready to roll as part of your train setup. When handling, be gentle with the removable rounded hoods to avoid any damage. For maintenance, use a soft, dry cloth to clean the die-cast body and remove any dust. If the painting or lettering gets dirty, you can use a mild soap solution and a very soft brush to carefully clean it, but make sure to dry it thoroughly afterwards. Store the car in a cool, dry place to prevent any rust or damage. And always keep it away from sharp objects that could scratch the body or the detailed wood-lined trough floor.
