Description
The ATLAS 50005585 is an N scale FMC 5077 single-door boxcar representing Vermont Railway #3527. Note that the picture might show a different road number. This boxcar marks FMC's foray into the Plate B IPD box car era. Its design aimed to be highly versatile, fitting most common railroad clearances. It was available with or without end-of-car cushioning and came in several door setups. From 1975 - 1979, FMC's Portland, Oregon plant produced over 4,300 of these cars. They were delivered in various colorful shortline paint schemes and also joined the Railbox car pool. Later, many second - hand cars ended up in Class 1 railroads and large leasing company fleets. Key features include single or double sliding doors (as appropriate), multiple body styles, body - mounted couplers, a Plate B box car design, and an X - Panel roof.

Using this ATLAS N scale FMC 5077 single - door boxcar is easy. Just place it on your N scale railroad track and let it run with your other trains. When handling it, be gentle to avoid any damage to the couplers or the body. For storage, keep it in a dry and clean place away from direct sunlight. If it gets dirty, you can use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the body. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents as they may damage the paint and details of the boxcar. Check the couplers regularly to make sure they are working properly and are not loose.
