Description
Upgrade your 1960s and later freight car fleet with the Walthers Mainline 40' American Car and Foundry Modernized Welded Boxcar featuring 8' Youngstown Doors. These HO scale models are typical of the thousands of general - service boxcars upgraded to meet 1960s safety regulations. Key features include: a brand - new body style, a limited - quantity one - time run of these road numbers, prototypes used in general freight service from the late 1960s to the 1980s. Cars are rebuilt to meet new safety standards like no running boards or mounts on the roof, tall ladders and a molded roof - mounted grab iron only at the B (brake wheel end), and short ladders at the A end. The boxcar also has a detailed 10 - panel body, 8' Youngstown doors, late Stanray 4/4 improved Dreadnaught ends, a Stanray diagonal panel roof, correct 33' turned metal RP - 25 metal wheelsets, and Proto MAX(TM) metal knuckle couplers.

Using this Walthers HO scale boxcar is easy. Simply place it on your model train track and couple it to other cars in your freight train. You can use it to create a realistic 1960s - 1980s freight train setup. When handling the boxcar, be gentle as the small parts like the couplers and wheelsets can be fragile. Avoid dropping it or applying too much force. For maintenance, keep it clean by using a soft, dry cloth to dust it regularly. If there's dirt on the wheels, you can use a bit of mild soap and water to clean them, but make sure to dry them thoroughly before putting the boxcar back on the track. Also, store it in a cool, dry place to prevent any damage to the paint or plastic parts.
