The Fox Valley Models N Scale FVM 10105 Trinity RD - 4 Coal Hopper, numbered NS Norfolk Southern #390579, is a must - have for model train enthusiasts. The picture might show a different road number. The Trinity RD - 4 is a 4200 - cubic - foot modern aluminum coal hopper built from the mid - 1990s and still in use today. Railroads and public utilities use these cars in unit trains to transport coal from mines to power plants or export ports. This FVM RD - 4 Hopper for NS comes with new road numbers and covers the era from 1996 to the present. It's fully assembled, with a detailed plastic body and die - cast weight for interior detail. The removable coal load adds a fun touch. It features detailed free - rolling trucks with 36” machined metal wheels and body - mounted operating knuckle couplers compatible with Micro - Trains®. The printing and lettering are clear even under magnification, and it's weighted to industry standards for reliable operation. First, place it on your track that meets the Code 55, 70, or 80 requirements and has a radius of at least 9 ¾” (11” is recommended).
