Description
The Walthers 910 - 20431 EMD GP9 Phase II is a gem for model train enthusiasts. It represents the United States Army #4650 in striking red and yellow colors, and comes equipped with DCC & Sound in HO Scale. When running this Walthers - branded DCC - equipped locomotive in DC mode, don't use power packs over 18V, like the MRC 1300 - series ones with decoder issues. The WalthersMainline Phase II Chopped Nose GP9 is a must - have for your 1960s and later diesel collection. It looks similar to the GP7 but has production changes in louver placement, making it a 'phase two' GP9. In the 1960s, many were rebuilt with chopped short hoods for better visibility. This model features a detailed chopped - nose body, a scale - width hood, see - through steps, and correct RP - 25 metal wheels. It's available with ESU Sound and DCC, offering multiple functions like 4 function outputs with brightness control, 14, 28 or 128 speed steps, and dual - mode operation. It has the same powerful drive as WalthersProto locos, with a five - pole skew - wound motor, helical - cut gears for quiet running, and all - wheel drive. There are also molded drill starter points for easy addition of grab irons with a separate detail kit. Hurry, it's a limited - quantity one - time run!

Using this Walthers EMD GP9 Phase II model is a breeze. If you're using it in DC mode, make sure your power pack doesn't exceed 18V to avoid decoder problems. When setting it up on your layout, it's compatible with both DCC and DC systems. You can control its speed with 14, 28, or 128 speed steps and adjust functions like the 4 function outputs' brightness. For sounds, you can change airhorns and bells using CVs. As for maintenance, keep the locomotive clean. Wipe it gently with a soft cloth to remove dust. Check the wheels regularly to make sure they roll smoothly. If you want to add grab irons, use the GP9 Phase II Diesel Detail Kit (#910 - 258 sold separately) and the molded drill starter points on the model to make the process easy.
