Description
Introducing the limited - edition HO scale Atlas USRA rebuilt steel 40 - foot box car, specifically painted for the freelance model railroad of Virginia Midland with road number VM 2864. Note that the picture might show a different road number. Steve King's freelanced Virginia Midland is the third railroad in the Appalachian Lines trilogy. King joined forces with Allen McClelland and Tony Koester, combining the Virginia Midland, Virginian and Ohio, and Allegheny Midland into the Appalachian Lines. This is the first pre - Appalachian Lines Virginia Midland car factory - painted with the original Virginia Midland logo, a must - have for your collection. By WWII, most classic USRA double - sheathed box cars were rebuilt with steel sides, with more rebuilds in the late 1940s and early 1950s. By late 1948, nearly 14,000 of the original 24,500 cars were rebuilt. These steel - side rebuilds are a great addition to the Atlas HO scale product line. The car features a ready - to - run design, a highly detailed 10 - panel body, accurate painting and printing, brake detail, AccuMate® couplers, an opening door, and separately applied wire grabs and side ladders.

Using your HO scale Atlas USRA rebuilt steel 40 - foot box car is a breeze. It's ready - to - run right out of the box, so just place it on your model train track and let it roll. When handling the car, be gentle as it has some delicate parts like the separately applied wire grabs and side ladders. Avoid pulling on these parts too hard to prevent breakage. For maintenance, keep the car clean. You can use a soft, dry cloth to dust it off regularly. If there's any stubborn dirt, use a very mild soap and water solution on a cloth, but make sure to dry it thoroughly to prevent rust or damage to the paint. Also, check the AccuMate® couplers from time to time to ensure they're working properly for smooth connections with other cars on the track. And remember, the inside height of the model may vary from the prototype, but that doesn't affect its functionality on your model railroad.
