Description
The Atlas 50004912 is an N scale model of the PS-2750 Hopper used by the Detroit Toledo & Ironton Railroad, numbered 1734 in black and white. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In the 1950s, Pullman - Standard introduced new standard designs for coal hoppers. This 70 - ton three - bay coal hopper has a rated volume of 2,750 cubic feet. The carbody has sixteen side posts and comes with or without heap shields. Later, an 80 - ton version with a 2,960 - cubic - foot volume was made using the same frame length but a taller body. These cars were built from 1954 - 1960 (2750 cf) and 1964 - 1971 (2960 cf). Key features include fifteen panels, die - cast hopper and center sill construction, a late 20th - century prototype (built from 1954 - 1971), optional heap shields, friction - or roller - bearing trucks, a Pullman - Standard design, and over 16,000 cars were built in total.

Using your Atlas N scale PS - 2750 hopper is easy. Just place it on your model train track and let it join your train lineup. When handling, hold it gently to avoid any damage. For maintenance, use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off dust regularly. Keep it in a dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent color fading. If you want to add heap shields, carefully attach them according to the included instructions. When choosing trucks, you can pick either friction - or roller - bearing ones based on your preference and the performance you want for your model train setup. Remember, this is a delicate model, so be careful not to drop it or subject it to rough handling.
