Description
The Atlas 11,000 Gallon Tank Car in N Scale, model number 50004732, represents Tidewater Associated #4001 (Part # 150 - 50004732). Note that the picture might show a different road number. Propane or LPG is a natural and refined - by - product. In the 1940s, the petroleum industry promoted LPG as a cleaner and more efficient fuel than coal and oil. Transporting LPG needs specially designed high - pressure tank cars. In the early 40s, the only qualified ACF tank car was the 10,500 - gallon one. After the war, ACF designed a new 11,000 - gallon tank car in 1947, and thousands were built until the mid - 1950s. The Atlas model accurately recreates this late - steam/early - diesel era tank car in two versions: with or without platform rails. Cars with top platform rails were for places without elevated loading/unloading facilities, while those without were for customers with such facilities. Key features include finely molded handrails, tank fittings and safety placards, 50 - ton friction - bearing trucks with AccuMate® couplers, accurate painting and lettering, and a platform when appropriate.

Using your Atlas 11,000 Gallon Tank Car is easy. Simply place it on your N - scale model railroad track. Connect it to other cars using the AccuMate® couplers. When you're setting up your layout, choose the right version of the car based on your loading and unloading setup. If you don't have an elevated facility, go for the one with platform rails. For an elevated setup, the car without platform rails will work great. As for maintenance, keep it clean. You can use a soft brush to remove dust from the handrails, tank fittings, and the body. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they might damage the accurate painting and lettering. Also, check the 50 - ton friction - bearing trucks regularly to make sure they roll smoothly. If you notice any parts getting loose, you can use a small amount of glue to secure them. Have fun with your model railroad and enjoy the historical touch this tank car brings!
