Description
The Atlas 20006521 NSC Newsprint Box Car in HO Scale represents the CN Canadian National #401788. It's painted in boxcar red and white with a website logo. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In 1967, National Steel Car Corp in Hamilton, Ontario made the first cars for dedicated newsprint transport between Canada and the US. These cars had riveted or welded sides and smooth interiors, including doors, to protect 2000 - pound paper rolls. The rolls were stacked two - high, so the cars needed over 9 - foot internal height. They also had large door openings with sliding Youngstown lever - type flush plug doors or lever - less exterior post plug doors. Seven railroads originally bought these cars, and they were seen in international paper shipping until the late 2000s. They had many colorful paint schemes. This model features separately applied detail parts, accurate paint and door setups, knuckle couplers, and free - rolling Symington roller bearing trucks.
Using this HO scale Atlas box car is easy. You can simply place it on your model train track as part of your train consist. It'll add a touch of authenticity to your model railroad. When handling it, be gentle to avoid damaging the separately applied detail parts. These are delicate and can break if not handled with care. To keep your box car in good condition, store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If it gets dirty, use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe it clean. Don't use any harsh chemicals or abrasive materials as they can damage the paint scheme. Also, regularly check the knuckle couplers and the free - rolling Symington roller bearing trucks to make sure they're working smoothly. If you notice any issues, you might need to clean or lubricate them carefully.
