Description
Get this amazing 3-pack of Atlas 70-Ton Hart Ballast Cars in HO Scale, representing Chicago, Burlington & Quincy #221003, 221037, 221065 in Boxcar Red and black. The picture might show a different road number. Built by ACF® from 1940 - 1953, these were once called “Hart Selective Service Ballast Cars”. Their special doors let you discharge the load in three ways: to the center of the rails, to the center and sides, or just to the side. Key features include a die-cast chassis, ready-to-run operation, 70-ton friction-bearing trucks, separately-applied side-dump doors that can be opened or closed, detailed exterior parts like grab irons and air brake piping, a fully detailed interior with cross-bracing and side stiffeners, being AccuMate® Proto-Coupler ready (screws included), and accurate painting and printing.
Using these HO scale ballast cars is easy. They are ready-to-run, so you can just put them on your track and start using them right away. When it comes to discharging the load, you can adjust the side-dump doors to open them and release the ballast in the way you need, either to the center of the rails, the center and sides, or just the side. For connection, use the included screws to install the AccuMate® Proto-Coupler. As for maintenance, keep them clean. You can gently wipe them with a soft cloth to remove dust. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they might damage the paint or the parts. Store them in a dry place to prevent rusting, especially on the die-cast chassis and metal parts. Check the trucks and couplers regularly to make sure they are working properly and are well-lubricated.
