Description
The Atlas 10004245 EMD GP40 - 2 Indiana Harbor Belt #4013 in HO scale comes with DCC & Sound. It has front and rear ditch lights in black and orange. The picture might show a different road number. The GP40 - 2 is EMD's successor to the successful GP40. It has internal upgrades like improved Dash 2 electrical components and some external differences from the late - production GP40. It features a 16 - cylinder EMD 645 - series diesel engine with 3,000 horsepower. Phase 2 units have an 88” low nose, corrugated radiator grilles and notched step wells. The locomotive has many great features such as golden - white LEDs, a realistic die - cast underframe, and a high - performance motor. It also has detailed cab interiors, movable drop steps, and more. Additional features include etched metal fans, different dynamic brake options, and a 3,600 - gallon fuel tank. Undecorated units come with specific parts and options. It supports all DCC - programming modes and can also be used on DC layouts with some limitations. There are over 20 sound effects for a realistic experience.
Using this Atlas HO scale EMD GP40 - 2 locomotive is easy. If you're using a DCC layout, it supports all DCC - programming modes and you can flexibly map function keys F0 to F28. For DC operation, the LokSound Select Dual - Mode decoder allows it to run on DC layouts, but note that the Atlas Quantum Engineer won't operate it on DC. Also, on a DC - powered layout, you can't couple it with a locomotive that doesn't have both DCC and sound. When it comes to sound, you have over 20 sound effects to enjoy, and you can select different horns, bells, and brake squeals. For maintenance, keep it clean. Wipe the locomotive gently with a soft cloth to remove dust. Check the wheels regularly to make sure they're rolling smoothly. If there are any loose parts like the separately - installed windshield wipers or handrails, re - attach them carefully. Store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent any damage to the paint or plastic parts.
