The Atlas 10004244 EMD GP40 - 2 locomotive, representing Indiana Harbor Belt #4011, comes in HO scale with DCC & Sound. It features front and rear ditch lights in black and orange. Note that the picture might show a different road number. The GP40 - 2 is EMD's successor to the highly successful GP40. It has internal upgrades like improved Dash 2 electrical components and external differences from late - production GP40s. It's powered by a 16 - cylinder EMD 645 - series diesel engine with 3,000 horsepower. Phase 2 units have distinct features such as an 88” low nose. The locomotive has great features including golden - white LEDs, a realistic die - cast underframe, and a high - performance motor. It also offers many additional features and has different operation modes with rich sound functionality.

Using this locomotive is easy. First, if you're using it on a DCC layout, make sure your system supports all DCC - programming modes as this locomotive does. You can map function keys F0 to F28 flexibly. For analog (DC) operation, the LokSound Select Dual - Mode decoder allows it to work on DC layouts too, but note that the Atlas Quantum Engineer won't operate it on an analog layout. When running it on a DC - powered layout, don't try to consist it with a locomotive that doesn't have both DCC and sound. As for maintenance, keep the locomotive clean. Regularly check the wheels and couplers for any signs of wear or damage. If there's dirt on the underframe or other parts, use a soft brush to gently clean it. Also, make sure the electrical connections are secure. When not in use, store it in a dry and safe place to avoid any physical damage.
