By 1959, 515 SD9s were serving over a dozen railroads, and some are still in action today! WalthersProto SD9 locos are ready for service. They feature excellent paint and lettering, railroad - specific details, and come with ESU LokSound Select for DCC and DC layouts. Using this Walthers Proto SD9 diesel locomotive is easy. First, if you're using a DCC or DC layout, make sure it's properly set up and connected. Then, place the locomotive on the track and power it up. You can enjoy the smooth running thanks to the helical gears. When operating multiple units, it's a breeze to connect them. As for maintenance, keep the locomotive clean. You can use a soft brush to remove dust from the wheels, gears, and other parts. Check the electrical connections regularly to ensure good conductivity.
