Description
Bring big power to your HO railroad with the Walthers Mainline SD75I! This model represents Ontario Northland #2100 in eye - catching blue, yellow, and black. It's from the SD70 - series, built between 1996 and 1999, and most are still in service. The Isolated or Whisper Cab (the 'I' in the model name) reduces noise and vibration, easily spotted by the nose seam. Key features include all - new tooling, a limited - run of this roadnumber. It has a correct North American Safety Cab, flush radiators like early units, and HTCR - 1a or HTCR - 1b trucks as per the prototype. The brass Nathan K5 air horn and treadplate details on walkways add authenticity. LED lighting is great with high/low headlights, working ditch lights, and constant/directional lights. It comes with ESU Sound & DCC for both DCC and DC layouts, with changeable air horns and bells via CVs. The powerful drive features a 5 - pole skew - wound motor, 14:1 gear ratio, and helical - cut gears for quiet and multi - unit operation. All - wheel drive, dual flywheels, and a heavy die - cast chassis ensure performance. There's a detailed cab interior, a 5000 - gallon fuel tank, and standard bell. You can easily add grab irons with a separate detail kit. And it has correct RP - 25 metal wheels and Proto MAX magnetic couplers. Note: When using in DC mode, don't use power packs over 18V, like MRC 1300 - series ones due to decoder issues.

Using this Walthers HO Scale EMD SD75I locomotive is a breeze. If you're using it on a DCC - powered layout, just connect it to your DCC system and start operating. For DC - powered layouts, make sure to use a power pack that doesn't exceed 18V. The MRC 1300 - series power packs are not recommended because they can cause issues with the decoder. When running your locomotive, you can change the air horns and bells using the CV settings. This gives you different sounds to add variety to your railroad experience. As for maintenance, keep the locomotive clean. You can use a soft brush to remove dust from the body, wheels, and gears. Check the wheels regularly for any debris that might affect its movement. If you want to add grab irons, you can use the SD70 - Series Diesel Detail Kit (910 - 261, sold separately) and follow the instructions on the kit. Store the locomotive in a dry place to prevent any damage. With proper use and maintenance, this locomotive will provide you with many hours of fun on your HO railroad.
