Description
The FVM 10137 Trinity RD-4 Coal Hopper in N Scale from Fox Valley Models features the UP Union Pacific livery with road number #503747. Note that the picture might show a different road number. The Trinity RD-4 Coal hopper, a 4200-cubic-foot modern car, has been in service since the mid-1990s. Railroads and public utilities use these aluminum hopper cars in unit trains to transport coal from fields to power plants or export ports. This FVM RD-4 Hopper for UP comes with new road numbers, suitable for the era from 2003 to present. It's part of Series 503600 - 503959, built from Oct 03 to Jan 04. It's fully assembled with a detailed plastic body and die-cast weight with interior detail. You can add modeler-applied interior braces and remove the coal load. The detailed free-rolling trucks have 36” machined metal wheels. It has body-mounted operating knuckle couplers compatible with Micro-Trains®. The printing and lettering are clear even under magnification. Weighted to industry standards, it operates on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail. It comes in a clear jewel box for safe storage. The minimum radius is 9 ¾” and the recommended radius is 11”. Coal transport by train has evolved over time, and the Trinity RD-4 is a modern solution with its high capacity and rapid discharge design.

Using this N scale coal hopper is easy. Just place it on your Code 55, 70, or 80 rail track. It can smoothly run on tracks with a minimum radius of 9 ¾”, but for better performance, use a track with a radius of 11”. You can load and unload the removable coal load as you like. If you want, you can add the modeler - applied interior braces for a more detailed look. When it comes to maintenance, keep it clean. You can use a soft cloth to wipe the plastic body and metal parts. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they may damage the printing and lettering. Store it in the provided clear jewel box when not in use to protect it from dust and scratches. Also, be gentle when handling the body - mounted operating knuckle couplers to prevent any breakage.
