Description
The Fox Valley Models N Scale FVM 10054 Trinity RD - 4 Coal Hopper, featuring BNSF/Heritage III #651518, is a great addition to your model train collection. Note that the picture might show a different road number. The Trinity RD - 4 Coal hopper is a modern 4200 - cubic - foot car built since the mid - 1990s and still in service today. Railroads and public utilities use these aluminum hopper cars in unit trains to transport coal from coal fields to power plants or export ports. The FVM RD - 4 Hopper for BNSF comes with new road numbers and is from the era 2005 to present. It belongs to Series 651400 – 652574, built from Jun to Dec 2005. It's fully assembled with a detailed plastic body. It has a die - cast weight with interior detail, and modeler - applied interior braces. The removable coal load adds to the fun. The detailed free - rolling trucks and 36” machined metal wheels ensure smooth operation. The body - mounted operating knuckle couplers are Micro - Trains® compatible. The printing and lettering are clear even under magnification. It's weighted to industry standards for reliable running and can operate on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail. It comes in a clear jewel box for safe storage. The minimum radius is 9 ¾”, and the recommended radius is 11”. Coal has been transported by train since the start of railroads. These modern hoppers are the result of a long evolution from early wood and composite cars to high - capacity, low - weight aluminum ones.

Using your Fox Valley Models N Scale FVM 10054 Trinity RD - 4 Coal Hopper is easy. First, you can simply place it on your Code 55, 70, or 80 rail track. Make sure the track has at least a 9 ¾” minimum radius, though an 11” radius is recommended for better operation. You can add or remove the coal load as you like to change the look of your model. When it comes to maintenance, keep the 36” machined metal wheels clean from dirt and debris to ensure smooth rolling. Check the body - mounted operating knuckle couplers regularly to make sure they are working properly and are still compatible with your other Micro - Trains® models. Store the model in the clear jewel box when not in use to protect it from dust and damage. Avoid exposing the model to extreme temperatures or moisture as it may affect the plastic body and the detailed printing and lettering.
