Description
The Atlas 50005237 N Scale 50' Boxcar Class X72 represents Conrail 269962 in brown and white with a small logo. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In 1972, Penn Central and Western Pacific ordered smooth - sided box cars from US Railroad Manufacturing. The PC's 574 - car order led to the 'X72' design with smooth welded sides and a large 6 - panel Superior door for forklift access. The next year, another 500 X72A cars were ordered. These cars were widely used across North American railroads. After PC's end in the late 70s, Conrail took them over and they ran until the 90s. Later, most were sold to Canadian National, short lines, or scrapped. By the 2000s, most X72s were out of service, but some still run in Mexico and South America. The X72 and X72A had many paint schemes, like Conrail's 'Buy And Hold US Savings Bonds' one. Some even stayed in PC green. Whether you need a few or a whole block for your train, this X72 from Atlas looks great. Features include crisp painting and printing, a durable body, free - rolling trucks, a detailed brakewheel, and knuckle couplers.

Using this Atlas N Scale 50' Boxcar is easy. Just place it on your N - scale train track. You can add it to your existing train set or use it to start a new one. When handling the boxcar, be gentle to avoid any damage to the detailed parts like the brakewheel and couplers. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body of the boxcar from time to time. Make sure to check the trucks regularly to ensure they roll freely. If the couplers seem a bit stiff, you can use a small amount of lubricant to keep them working smoothly. Store the boxcar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent any fading of the paint. With proper care, this boxcar will be a great addition to your train collection for years to come.
