Description
The Atlas 50004909 PS - 2750 Hopper in N Scale represents the Detroit Toledo & Ironton #1727, painted in classic black and white. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In the 1950s, Pullman - Standard introduced new standard designs for coal hoppers. This 70 - ton three - bay coal hopper has a 2,750 - cubic - foot capacity. It has sixteen side posts and is available with or without heap shields. Later, an 80 - ton version with a 2,960 - cubic - foot capacity was also offered. These cars were built from 1954 - 1960 (2750 cf) and 1964 - 1971 (2960 cf). Key features include fifteen panels, die - cast hopper and center sill construction, a late 20th - century prototype, optional heap shields, friction - or roller - bearing trucks, a Pullman - Standard design, and over 16,000 cars were built.

Using this N scale hopper is easy. You can place it on your model railroad track just like any other car. When handling, be gentle to avoid damaging the delicate parts. For maintenance, regularly check the trucks and wheels. If they get dirty, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean them. Keep the hopper in a dry place to prevent rusting. If you want to change the trucks from friction - bearing to roller - bearing or vice versa, it's a simple process. Just remove the old trucks and replace them with the new ones. Enjoy adding this realistic hopper to your model railroad collection!
