Description
The Atlas 150 - 50004731 is a remarkable N - scale 11,000 - gallon tank car FBCX designed for Foley Butane #88. Note that the picture might show a different road number. Propane or LPG is a great fuel, both a natural product and a refining by - product. In the 1940s, the petroleum industry started promoting LPG as a cleaner and more efficient alternative to coal and oil. Transporting LPG needs special high - pressure tank cars. In the early 40s, only the 10,500 - gallon ACF high - pressure tank car met the requirements. After the war, ACF designed a new 11,000 - gallon tank car in 1947, and thousands were built until the mid - 1950s. The Atlas model accurately recreates this late - steam/early - diesel era tank car in two versions: with and without platform rails. Cars with top platform rails are for places without elevated loading/unloading facilities, while those without are for customers with such facilities. It features finely - molded handrails, tank fittings and safety placards, 50 - ton friction - bearing trucks with AccuMate® couplers, accurate painting and lettering, and a platform when needed.

Using this Atlas tank car model is simple. Just place it on your model railroad track and it's ready to roll. When handling, be gentle to avoid damaging the finely - molded handrails and other delicate parts. Keep it away from sharp objects. For maintenance, use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off dust regularly. If it gets dirty, you can use a mild soap solution and a soft brush to clean the surface gently. Make sure to dry it thoroughly before putting it back on the track. Check the AccuMate® couplers and 50 - ton friction - bearing trucks from time to time to ensure they are working properly. If any parts seem loose, you can use a small amount of glue to fix them, but be careful not to use too much.
