In 2012, BNSF bought nearly 600 of these high - capacity box cars. Four years later, TTX Corporation ordered similar 7550 box cars. Now, there are over 4,000 in their fleet with more on the way. With a 286,000 gross rail load capacity, they can carry various products like paper and bulk items. The 7550 and 7538 look alike but have differences. The 7550 has 'grid sides' and double plug doors, while the 7538 has a single plug door and a unique door step below the left side of the door opening. These cars are common in North America.
